Humor me....

If you are reading this, if your eyes are passing over these words, please post a comment with a completely made up and fictional memory of you and me. I saw this one other person's blog and it has been very interesting reading all of the different (some disturbing) memories that people have come up with.

So go ahead, write a little paragragh. Then do the same on your blog. I can't wait to read what you've come up with.

My Lunchdate

I swear I'm not mean person, but I've got this friend at work that I'm trying to shake. Let me first explain that I met her in training for my new job I started just over a month ago. I ended up sitting next to her in the training class (assigned seats, BTW) I didn't go up and introduce myself to her initiate anything. Over the three weeks of class we'd chat during breaks and would sit together at lunch. Again, I'd sit and she'd join me. I'd even tried bringing a book to read while eating. In hopes that she'd not want to disturb me. Alas, she had no qualms talking to me with my nose a buried as I could politely keep it buried.

She
is a nice person, but she does seem to dominate any conversation. Full of stories about her many dates, the men she's chatting with online, her children, her ex-husband and/or more often than not her ex-husband now wife. Anytime I try and start to talk about something about me, she'll spin it to go into something about what going on with her. Ugh!

I kept thinking that once we were out of training, knowing that we were going to different departments that I "lose" her. Not a chance. She quickly found my extension in the directory and called to arrange our lunches. She told me that she had to take her lunch at one, to just meet her down there. She didn't ask me, mind you, she told me. For the next couple of weeks, I'd get emails or calls to let me know if she was tied up with an account or waiting for her lunch to be delivered, and she'd call when to come down. I would never know how to respond, except to say, okay and comply.

Finally, I had it. I grew hungry waiting for her sometimes and the sheer fact that I just really didn't want to eat lunch with her, drove me to lie and tell her that I'd have to start taking my lunch a half an hour earlier from now on, starting tomorrow. Now I feel guilty. Which is the reason this has gone on longer than most people would've let it, but I can't help it. I had to do it, right?

So tomorrow I can bring my book with me to lunch, finally! My co-worker, that I confessed my devious plan to, has been teasing me. She asked what would I do if she found a way to move her lunch too? Guess I'll be back to square one.
